Cialis General Information

Cialis Use

Cialis (generic name tadalafil) is a drug used for treating male impotence, otherwise referred to as erectile dysfunction. Like other FDA approved ED medications Cialis works by stimulating the blood circulation in the penis region after sexual stimulation has taken place, making more blood flow into the cavernous bodies and thus improve and prolong erection. Cialis Dosage

Cialis is to be taken only when needed, in about 15 minutes before engaging into sexual activity. You have to consult with your doctor about the proper dosage of Cialis in your situation, taking into account the severity of condition as well as other factors. Do not exceed the dosage recommended by your physician nor take the drug more than once during the day. You can take Cialis with or without food.

Cialis warnings and precautions

Cialis should not be taken in conjunction with any drugs containing nitrates (both for chest pain and street drugs known as “poppers”) as this mix could lead to dangerous and even fatal drop in blood pressure. If you are strongly dependent on nitrate containing drugs makes sure to have at least 24 hour difference when taking Cialis with them.

In rare cases Cialis was observed to cause vision loss due to the decreased blood flow into the optical nerve in the eye. This is usually common with patients who have heart problems and diseases, diabetes, high cholesterol, heavy smokers or older adults. If this occurs when taking Cialis make sure to inform your doctor to discuss the matter and adjust the dosage respectively.

Make sure to tell your doctor about any of the following conditions if you were diagnosed with:

  • heart disease and blood pressure problems
  • kidney or liver disease
  • heart rhythm problems
  • stomach ulcer
  • deformed penis
  • limitations on sexual activity
